Apple Pay

Apple Pay is a mobile payment and digital wallet service that lets customers pay using their iPhone, iPad, Mac, MacBook, or Apple Watch. It provides a fast, secure checkout experience — customers authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or a device passcode instead of entering card details manually.

Ottu supports Apple Pay in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia (KSA), and Bahrain.

Apple Pay Configuration Guide

Setting up Apple Pay requires coordination between three portals: your Apple Developer account, the Ottu Dashboard, and your payment gateway portal. You will need to:

1. Create a Merchant ID
2. Add and verify a domain
3. Create Apple Pay certificates
4. Set up the Payment Processing Certificate for your gateway

You must have an Apple Developer account to accept Apple Pay payments. If you do not have one, sign up at developer.apple.com.

Creating Merchant ID

Log in to your Apple Developer account

Select Merchant IDs and add a new one

Choose the Merchant IDs identifier type

Enter the merchant information

Review and register

Go to developer.apple.com and sign in with your Apple Developer credentials.

From the App IDs dropdown, choose Merchant IDs, then click the + button.

From the identifier types, choose Merchant IDs and click Continue.

Fill in Display Name, Description, and Identifier. The identifier should be your Ottu domain in reverse order — for example, if your domain is demo.ottu.net, enter net.ottu.demo. Then click Continue.

Review the provided details and click Register to create your Merchant ID.

Add a new payment service

Configure the Apple Pay service

Verify the domain in Apple

From the Identifiers section in Apple Developer, select the Merchant ID you created (e.g., "Ottu Apple Pay").

In the Merchant ID details, click Add Domain to register a new domain for Apple Pay.

Enter the domain URL you want to register and click Save.

Download the .txt verification file. Keep it ready — you will upload it to Ottu in the next step.

Log in to the Ottu Dashboard, click the three dots in the upper-right corner to access the Administration Panel, then select Payment Service from the sidebar.

Click Add payment service to create a new Apple Pay service entry.

Fill out the fields and click Save: Name — display name for the service; Code — identifier for APIs/URLs; Apple Merchant Identifier — the ID from Apple; Display Name — shown on the Apple Pay payment sheet; Domain — your Apple Pay domain (e.g., merchant.ottu.net); Domain Verification File — upload the .txt file from step 4; PG — the payment gateway to use.

The new Apple Pay service has been created and is now visible in the Payment Service list.

Back in the Apple Developer portal, go to Certificates, IDs & Profiles, scroll to Merchant Domains, and click Verify. Apple will confirm the domain verification.

If you use your own custom domain alongside Ottu, you must also verify that domain. Follow Apple's domain verification guide for instructions.

Creating Apple Pay Certificates

Go to Certificates, IDs & Profiles

Create a Merchant Identity Certificate

From your Apple Developer account, go to the Certificates, IDs & Profiles section.

Scroll down to the Apple Pay Merchant Identity Certificate section and click Create Certificate.

Download the CSR from Ottu

Select the payment service

Download CSR file

Log in to the Ottu Dashboard, go to the Administration Panel, then select Payment Service from the sidebar. Select the payment service associated with your Merchant ID and domain.

Click Download CSR file to get the Certificate Signing Request file you will upload to Apple.

If you have not added the payment service yet, follow the instructions in Adding and Verifying a Domain above.

Download the certificate file

Back in Apple, upload the CSR file you downloaded from Ottu.

Click Continue to proceed to the download step.

Click Download to get the certificate (.CER) file.

PEM Certificate and Key File generated

From the Ottu Dashboard, go to the Administration Panel and select Payment Service. Select the same Apple Pay service from the previous steps. Upload the .CER file to the Apple Pay Identifier CER field and click Save.

After saving, the PEM Certificate and Key File are generated automatically.

Creating Apple Payment Processing Certificate

The Payment Processing Certificate is required by your payment gateway to decrypt Apple Pay transaction data. The setup process differs depending on your gateway.

Ottu supports Apple Pay with MPGS, Cybersource, and KNET gateways. Follow the guide for your gateway:
